Following the advent of the new government, passport fees have surged by a staggering 50%, significantly impacting citizens’ expenses for obtaining travel documents.
Under the revised fee structure, acquiring a standard 36-page passport for a 5-year validity period will now cost citizens Rs 4,500, marking a sharp rise from the previous fee of Rs 3,000. Similarly, the urgency fee for the same category has surged from Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,500.
For individuals opting for a 10-year validity period, the normal fee for a 36-page passport has surged to Rs 6,700 from Rs 4,500, while the urgency fee has ballooned to Rs 11,200 from Rs 7,500.
Citizens seeking a 72-page passport for a 5-year validity period will now have to pay Rs 8,200 for normal processing and Rs 13,500 for urgent processing. Meanwhile, the fee for a 100-page passport valid for 10 years will be Rs 12,400 for regular processing and a staggering Rs 20,200 for urgent processing.
