Petrol queues mount as Lahore fears fuel shortage intensifies

In Lahore, motorists have been queuing for hours at petrol pumps amid concerns over potential fuel shortages. Tensions in the Middle East between Iran and the United States have heightened fears about disruptions to energy markets.

As motorcyclists and car owners rushed to fill their tanks, some stations refused service altogether. In response, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has convened a high-level Federal cabinet committee, headed by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. The panel aims to closely monitor the market and ensure uninterrupted fuel supplies nationwide.

The government reassured citizens that all measures are in place to maintain steady fuel supplies ahead of Eid celebrations. “We are confident that our efforts will prevent any disruptions,” said a spokesperson for the Ministry of Petroleum, adding that while some stations have experienced shortages temporarily, they were swiftly addressing these issues.

Despite the anxiety and delays, there’s optimism as authorities work diligently to mitigate supply challenges. Motorists are encouraged to maintain patience and follow government advisories for smooth travel during the upcoming holidays.
