Pirates Seize Oil Tanker Near Somali Coast, 11 Pakistanis Held Hostage

Armed pirates seized an oil tanker off the Somali coast on April 21. The vessel, identified as Owner 25, was taken after a brief confrontation with its crew. Among those taken hostage were 11 Pakistani sailors.

The ship has since been moved to an undisclosed location believed to be under pirate control. Families of the affected sailors have expressed grave concern over their loved ones’ whereabouts and well-being. The Directorate General of Ports and Shipping in Pakistan has been unable to establish contact with the crew, adding to the anxiety of the hostages’ families.

No official statement has been issued by the shipping company operating the tanker. Reports suggest that negotiations for the crew’s release may be underway, but there has been no confirmation regarding any progress or ransom demands. The families of the Pakistani sailors have urged the government to take immediate steps to ensure their safe recovery and provide diplomatic and maritime assistance.
