PMD Forecasts Rain, thunderstorms for Karachi

Karachi residents are anticipating a much-needed respite from the dry winter spell as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning on February 3 and 4. The announcement has brought a glimmer of hope amidst the chilly weather that has gripped the city.

According to the PMD, a new western wave is set to enter Balochistan on February 1, increasing the likelihood of drizzles in Karachi by the night of February 2. The expected rainfall on February 3 and 4 may also lead to a drop in temperatures, intensifying the cold spell.

Meanwhile, the Met Office has issued a warning of potential flash floods in Balochistan due to heavy rainfall anticipated on February 2 and 3. The weather phenomenon is attributed to a westerly wave affecting the country, expected to persist until February 4.

Rain with isolated heavy falls, along with snowfall over the hills, is expected in various regions including Nokkundi, Dalbandin, Kalat, and others on February 2 and 3.

Similar weather patterns are anticipated in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad, and parts of Sindh during the forecasted period.
