Investigators have alleged that both victim Mustafa Amir and suspect Sahir Hasan were key players in Karachi’s drug trade, as a judicial magistrate extended the police custody of the TV actor’s son.
The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) presented Sahir in court on Monday following the completion of his initial remand. The court approved a one-day extension at the request of authorities, ordering his return on Tuesday.
Officials revealed that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has now joined the probe, focusing on money laundering and cybercrime, while the SIU investigates drug-related activities. Authorities believe the case may be linked to an international drug network.
Dark Web and International Links
Investigators claim that Mustafa Amir, Sahir Hasan, and Usman Swati were among Karachi’s major drug dealers. Drugs were allegedly ordered via the dark web by a contact in Islamabad, with shipments routed through Lahore and Islamabad before reaching Karachi via courier services.
The inquiry suggests three types of cannabis were sold in Karachi, with Mustafa handling “Jungle Boy,” Sahir managing “Gelato and Mamila,” and Usman distributing “Iranian Weed.” Investigators noted that Mustafa was murdered and Usman died in a road accident, leaving Sahir to operate the network alone.
The suspects reportedly coordinated via social media platforms.
Sahir Hasan’s Confession
During questioning, Sahir Hasan disclosed that he holds a BBA degree and is fluent in Urdu and English. He revealed that he married two months ago.
He admitted to using cannabis for 13 years and selling drugs for the past two, working alongside associates Bazil and Yahya. According to investigators, Sahir stated that he received weekly drug shipments worth Rs400,000 to Rs500,000 via courier services.
Authorities claim he sold cannabis at Rs10,000 per gram, moving approximately 1,200 grams monthly, primarily through cash transactions. When dealing with larger sums, he allegedly used his father’s manager’s account to transfer funds.
Sahir also named 12 clients, including Armaghan, the prime suspect in Mustafa Amir’s murder. Investigators are now exploring potential links between the homicide and the drug trade as they continue to gather evidence from multiple angles.
