Saudi Arabia unveils plans for new national tennis centre in Qiddiya City. The facility will be designed to resemble Wimbledon, with a retractable roof and non-grass surfaces.
Developed by Qiddiya Investment Company, the centre will feature a 15,000-seat centre court along with 28 hard courts and two clay courts. All courts will use green and purple colour schemes similar to Wimbledon’s surroundings.
The architecture firm Populous designed the facility, which is part of Saudi Arabia’s wider sports and entertainment development projects in Qiddiya City near Riyadh. Officials say it aims to serve as a major hub for tennis in the region and could host high-level international tournaments in future.
Saudi sports officials stated that the project is part of their broader economic diversification strategy aimed at developing sporting infrastructure and promoting local talent. ATP chief executive Eno Polo said the facility could play an important role in expanding tennis participation and providing a platform for elite competition in the region.
