Pakistan Plans Rs37 Billion Space Centre to Boost Research

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is moving ahead with a Rs37.13 billion Pakistan Space Centre project aimed at strengthening the country’s capabilities in space science, technology and research.

The project is outlined in the Ministry of Planning’s monthly development update and is intended to support innovation, skills development and growth in the space sector.

The initiative follows a series of satellite launches by SUPARCO, including the recent deployment of indigenous electro optical satellites. These missions have added to Pakistan’s remote sensing and earth observation capacity.

Space technology contributes to a range of practical needs, including agricultural planning, disaster management, climate monitoring and national security.

The new centre is expected to serve as a hub for research and training, helping to develop a skilled workforce in space related fields.
