Pakistan’s Senate Hosts Cultural Diplomacy Event
ISLAMABAD – The Senate of Pakistan hosted a distinguished cultural and diplomatic event, inviting ambassadors from friendly countries, senators, and guests to mark the official launch of the national anthem of Pakistan in choral format. This celebration also honored the enduring partnership between Pakistan and Romania.
The program began with an informal gathering of ambassadors led by Yousaf Raza Gillani, Chairman of the Senate.
A diplomatic exhibition highlighting over six decades of Romania-Pakistan bilateral relations was inaugurated through a ribbon-cutting ceremony jointly conducted by Gillani and Dan Stoenescu, Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan. Foreign ambassadors and Pakistani parliamentarians toured the exhibition, underscoring their commitment to strengthening international cooperation and friendship.
The highlight of the event was the performance of the national anthem in its historic choral arrangement by the Romanian National Chamber Choir “Madrigal – Marin Constantin,” performed during the opening of the Senate plenary session. Gillani recalled Romania’s first offering of a professional choral arrangement of its national anthem to Pakistan on Pakistan Day (23 March).
This cultural initiative was presented on an auspicious day when Pakistan played a crucial role in reaching a Middle East ceasefire. Senators from both government and opposition expressed their gratitude to Romania for this historic gesture, reaffirming the strength of bilateral relations and emphasizing the vital role of cultural diplomacy in fostering international ties.
