Trump Urges Netanyahu to Be More Responsible Over Lebanon Strikes

President Trump expressed dissatisfaction over recent strikes in Lebanon during his remarks from Évian-les-Bains, France, where he was attending the G7 summit. The strikes by Israel against Hezbollah’s command center in Beirut were deemed “vicious” and “too much,” according to Trump.

The comments came as Trump and Iran agreed on a truce for an extended ceasefire, expected to be formalized in Switzerland on Friday. However, the deal faced potential complications due to the Israeli strikes, which Iran’s foreign minister warned could lead to violations of the agreement.

Despite his criticism of Netanyahu’s actions in Lebanon, Trump maintained that he and Netanyahu have a “great relationship” and are discussing final details of the truce. He emphasized Israel’s responsibility for fighting Hezbollah and suggested that Syria might be better equipped to handle the threat.

These comments reflect ongoing tensions between Trump and Netanyahu, with Fox News reporter Trey Yingst recounting how Trump questioned Netanyahu about his actions following the strikes. The future deployment of Israeli troops in Lebanon remains uncertain, as Iran’s stance on any residual forces suggests a potential breach of the agreement.
