Uzbekistan Lifts Ban on Pakistani Workers Ahead of PM’s Visit

The Government of Uzbekistan has lifted its ban on Pakistani workers, allowing them to seek employment opportunities following a recommendation from Pakistan’s Embassy in Tashkent.

The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE) has issued a circular confirming the decision and has directed all Protectorate of Emigrants Offices to begin registering workers to facilitate their placement while ensuring their rights are protected.

The move comes ahead of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s scheduled two-day visit to Uzbekistan in late February.

Fee Structure for Emigrants

For direct employment:

  • Life insurance: Rs2,500 (coverage up to Rs1 million for five years)
  • OPF welfare fund: Rs4,000
  • Registration: Rs2,500
  • OEC fee: Rs200
  • Total: Rs9,200

For employment via overseas recruiters:

  • Life insurance: Rs2,500
  • OEP service charges: Rs15,000 (plus Rs6,000 for processing)
  • Registration: Rs500
  • OEC fee: Rs200
  • OPF welfare fund: Rs4,000
  • Total: Rs22,200

Pakistani workers planning to take up jobs in Uzbekistan must secure visa protection from the relevant authorities to safeguard their rights in the host country.
