Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH), Karachi, has secured a spot among the top 100 Academic Medical Centers (AMCs) worldwide, according to the latest Brand Finance 2024 Global Top 250 Hospitals report. This distinction marks AKUH as the sole representative from Pakistan in this elite group.
While AKUH leads the Pakistani contingent in the top 100, four other hospitals – Mayo Hospital, Jinnah Hospital, Combined Military Hospital, and University Dental Hospital – have claimed positions in the 101-250 rank list. Additionally, three Indian hospitals are ranked within the top 100, with one more featured in the 101-250 list.
Defined by the Joint Commission International (JCI) as a tertiary care hospital closely integrated with a medical school, AKUH stands as Pakistan’s only JCI-accredited academic medical center. With nearly four decades of dedicated service to Karachi and beyond, AKUH has consistently set benchmarks in healthcare excellence. Notably, it was the first hospital in Pakistan to achieve ISO certification in 2000, followed by JCI accreditation in 2006 and as an AMC in 2015, alongside CAP accreditation in 2017.
This accolade underscores AKUH’s unwavering commitment to superior patient care, educational excellence, groundbreaking research, and extensive community outreach, both domestically and internationally.
Renowned for its cutting-edge infrastructure, advanced medical technologies, and a team of exceptionally skilled professionals, AKUH remains a cornerstone of innovation and quality in Karachi’s healthcare landscape.
Brand Finance, the organization behind these rankings, emphasizes key factors such as modern facilities, skilled personnel, convenient accessibility, comprehensive services, and affordability in determining the top 250 AMCs globally. AKUH’s inclusion in this prestigious list further validates its dedication to providing world-class healthcare services while prioritizing patient welfare and accessibility.
