Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baghaei, announced on Saturday that special security measures have been in place at the Strait of Hormuz since March 1. The measures involve commercial vessels coordinating with Iranian authorities before transiting the strategic waterway.

Baghaei stated that Iran and Oman are working together to develop new procedures for the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial maritime trade route. He emphasized that both countries aim to balance national security requirements with the uninterrupted flow of international shipping.

The spokesman rejected Western demands on Iran, asserting that Tehran’s decisions are based on its own interests and rights, not external pressure or threats. Baghaei criticized the US naval blockade as a violation of ceasefire agreements and freedom of navigation principles.

Responding to President Trump’s comments about Iran’s enriched uranium stockpiles, Baghaei said Iran remains focused on ending the conflict with Israel. He added that any future arrangements between Iran and Oman would prioritize national security while ensuring continued maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
