The Karachi Bar Association has called for an exemption from wearing black coats due to the extreme heat wave sweeping through the city. The General Secretary of the association penned a letter to the Sessions Judges, requesting that lawyers be excused from donning black coats for ten days, citing the severe weather conditions.

The letter highlighted that Karachi is enduring an unusually intense heatwave, making it highly challenging for lawyers to work while wearing black coats. It emphasized that the heat is causing health issues and difficulties in performing duties under such conditions.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued warnings for residents to take precautions when venturing outside, as the city faces scorching temperatures.

Forecasts earlier indicated that Karachi’s temperature could soar to 41°C, with a chance of dust thunderstorms and light rain in some areas. The PMD expects a temperature drop starting tomorrow, with isolated thunderstorms and rain from Thursday to Friday. The sea breeze, which had paused, is anticipated to resume by tomorrow evening.

Elsewhere in Sindh, areas such as Tharparkar, Umerkot, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Thatta, Sujawal, and Jamshoro are predicted to experience moderate to heavy rainfall from today until July 20. Similarly, Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Dadu, Kambar Shahdadkot, Larkana, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Ghotki, Sukkur, Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, and Shaheed Benazirabad are likely to see similar weather conditions during this period.
