KMC Begins Municipal Tax Collection via K-Electric Bills

Starting in July, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has introduced a municipal tax in K-Electric (KE) bills.

The Municipal Utility Charges and Taxes (MUCT) vary based on electricity consumption:

  • 101 to 200 units: Rs 20
  • 201 to 300 units: Rs 40
  • 301 to 400 units: Rs 100
  • 401 to 500 units: Rs 125
  • 501 to 600 units: Rs 150
  • 601 to 700 units: Rs 175
  • Above 700 units: Rs 300

Commercial and industrial consumers will be charged a flat rate of Rs 400. Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab stated that the revenue from this tax will fund city development projects.
