The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Planning and Development (P&D) Department has formally petitioned the Finance Department for a significant allocation of funds.
The request, conveyed through an official letter, calls for a total of five billion rupees to strengthen pivotal departments and strategic projects.
Breaking down the fund allocation, the health department leads the list with a plea for Rs 900 million, underscoring the urgent need for resources in the healthcare domain. Additionally, a substantial amount of Rs 600 million is sought for road construction, to enhance and expand the region’s infrastructure.
A multi-sectoral development initiative is slated to receive Rs 500 million, demonstrating a commitment to comprehensive progress. The water sector is also prioritized, with an allocation of Rs 500 million to tackle pressing water-related challenges. Furthermore, the primary, secondary, and higher secondary education department is designated to receive Rs 350 million, aiming to uplift education standards in the province.
The inclusive funding proposal encompasses Rs 250 million for water and sewage projects, indicating concerted efforts to address essential civic amenities. Additionally, Rs 50 million is recommended for the sports sector to boost sporting activities and infrastructure.
Various critical sectors including agriculture, tourism, forests, and local governments collectively request Rs 100 million, illustrating a dedication to fostering sustainable growth. Industries are set to benefit from a Rs 60 million allocation, while Rs 45 million is earmarked for relief and rehabilitation efforts.
The Urban Policy Unit, Law and Justice, alongside the Board of Revenue, are included in the allocation request, seeking Rs 40 million.
The treasury is urged to expedite the release of these funds to ensure seamless implementation of planned projects and initiatives across KP. The appeal underscores the province’s commitment to comprehensive development and improved public services.
