The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted scattered heavy rainfall throughout Pakistan, including major cities such as Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, from August 2 to August 6, with intermittent breaks.

During the monsoon season, which runs from July to August, Pakistan typically receives around 255mm of rain monthly. Given the potential for urban flooding and other rain-related issues, the PMD has urged authorities to remain vigilant and prepare for possible disruptions.

The PMD warned that heavy rainfall could lead to urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, Sahiwal, Nowshera, and Peshawar from August 2 to 5. Sindh’s low-lying areas are expected to see rain on August 4 and 5.

Additionally, there are warnings of landslides and road closures in vulnerable hilly regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The department predicted heavy showers in Sindh, affecting Jamshoro, Umarkot, Tharparkar, Khairpur, Thatta, Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, and Dadu.

Karachi has already experienced light rain, with intermittent showers over the past day leading to water accumulation on roads and power outages in some areas.

In Balochistan, the PMD expects heavy rainfall in Khuzdar, Labella, Awaran, Panjgur, Ketch, Kalat, Quetta, Ziarat, and the Makran Coast. For Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, scattered heavy rain with isolated very heavy falls is anticipated in Peshawar, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Mansehra, and Abbottabad.
