A prominent woman leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Sumaira Malik, has resigned from the party, taking this step following the denial of a PML-N ticket for her to contest the upcoming General Elections in 2024, according to ARY News.

Sumaira Malik, who held the position of PML-N Vice President in Punjab, not only resigned from her basic party membership but also withdrew from participating as an independent candidate in the elections.

This development unfolded as the PML-N granted the ticket for NA-87 to Shakir Bashir, leaving Sumaira Malik without the party’s endorsement from the same National Assembly constituency.

In a parallel development, Mir Aslam Rind, another PML-N leader, also announced his departure from the party, citing being ‘ignored’ for a party ticket in the General Elections 2024. Accusing the PML-N Balochistan President of nepotism in ticket distribution, Rind expressed his intent to run as an independent candidate for the provincial assembly seat PB-42.

The internal strife within PML-N’s Quetta chapter over ticket distribution has widened, with former Deputy Mayor Quetta, Younus Baloch, opting to contest the elections independently. These instances highlight the emerging differences and discontent within the party as the election season gains momentum.
