Russian government bans aviation fuel exports until November 30
The Russian government announced it will ban aviation fuel exports until November 30. This decision comes as Ukrainian strikes continue on Russia’s refineries and other energy infrastructure.
Russia primarily exports jet fuel by rail to Central Asia, including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
“The decision aims to ensure stability in the domestic fuel market,” according to a government statement.
The Russian government has already restricted gasoline exports but has not yet taken action on diesel. However, measures for diesel are reportedly being considered, as reported by Interfax news agency last week.
Diesel production in Russia fell by about 10% in May, adding to a 10% monthly drop in April due to Ukrainian drone attacks on refineries that forced them to reduce or halt output, according to Reuters data.
