Sindh High Court Halts Alleged Illegal Grade-16 Appointments

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has restrained the College Education Department from proceeding with alleged unlawful appointments in grade 16.

The announcement follows a petition challenging the department’s recruitment practices. The plea highlighted that an advertisement was published for 251 job openings, but regulations stipulate that only 50% of the posts should be filled through the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC). The other half should be reserved for promotions, according to the department’s rules.

During the hearing, the petitioner’s attorney argued that the department is exclusively using the SPSC for recruitment, in violation of its own regulations.

The court has ordered the department to keep 125 positions vacant and issued notices to the Chief Secretary and the Secretary of College Education for further clarification. The petition was filed by an employee of the College Education Department.
