Although tendered on Monday, the resignation was not immediately accepted, indicating a deliberative process within the party hierarchy.

Sources within the party revealed that a meeting of the JI’s majlis-e-shoora has been convened in Lahore on February 17 to deliberate on whether to accept or reject the resignation.
