Assassination Attempt on NDM Leader Mohsin Dawar in North Waziristan

National Democratic Movement leader Mohsin Dawar narrowly escaped an attack on Wednesday when unknown gunmen targeted his vehicle in the North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Fortunately, the bulletproof vehicle shielded Dawar from the assailants’ multiple shots.

The former MNA and partner in the Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) past coalition government was campaigning in Northern Waziristan when the incident occurred. While the rear mirror of his vehicle bore the brunt of the attack, Dawar emerged unharmed.

Local authorities swiftly responded, confirming that Mohsin Dawar had been moved to a secure location.

Security forces are actively engaged in the area, launching a search operation to apprehend the unidentified attackers.

In a separate and troubling incident on Tuesday, the lifeless bodies of six men, identified as barbers from Punjab, were discovered in fields in North Waziristan. District Police Officer Roohan Zeb Khan termed the incident a terror act, emphasizing an ongoing investigation. The victims, who all operated shops in the same market in Mir Ali, had been abducted a day prior, according to local journalist Haji Mujtaba. Identification processes are underway before handing over the bodies to their families.
