Jazz Holds Tree Plantation Drive in Islamabad as Part of Nationwide Carbon Sink Project

Jazz, Pakistan’s leading digital operator, in collaboration with the Capital Development Authority (CDA), organized a large-scale tree plantation drive in Islamabad as part of its nationwide Carbon Sink project to promote environmental conservation and combat climate change.

Under the current tree plantation drive, over 33,700 trees, including 15,000 Kachnar, 18,500 Arjun, and 200 Plum trees, will be planted at different locations across Islamabad including the Margalla Hills, green belts, as well as the Jazz Garden situated near Mauve Area in Sector G9. Jazz employees actively participated in the drive to enhance the green landscape of the federal capital. The 33,700 trees planted during the drive are projected to offset over 1,200 tonnes of carbon annually, significantly contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

“As a responsible corporate entity, Jazz is committed to environmental stewardship and sustainable practices. Our nationwide Carbon Sink project, including this tree plantation drive in Islamabad, reflects our long-term vision of combating climate change and reducing carbon emissions. By collaborating with the CDA and actively involving our employees, we aim to contribute to a greener Pakistan while supporting global climate goals,” said Ibrar Khan, Vice President, Corporate & Economic Affairs at Jazz.

Last year, in September, Jazz planted 2,500 Amaltas trees (Cassia fistula) in Sector F-6. Earlier in March this year, Jazz organized another tree plantation drive in Peshawar’s Hayatabad area, where Jacaranda, Kachnar, and Alstonia saplings were planted. Jazz’s Carbon Sink project is a key component of the company’s broader strategy to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. The company has taken a number of initiatives to offset its carbon footprint and address climate change.
